What happened in Vegas, will stay in Vegas

So the heat was awful so we went to Vegas. I was going to drop out of the trip early and visit my older sister and bro-in-law, Lisa and Jim. My plane left the next day so we had two days and a night. Our first stop in Vegas was Ronald's Donuts. This place has vegan donuts and you'd never know it. It seemed like an old fashion donut place. Pretty nice people running the joint.

After that we headed to the Hoover Dam.

Overflow backup.

Bridge they are building to avoid having to cross the dam. This bridge is made of 100% concrete and will not have the cable supports. It's so high in the air I was scared looking at it from where I was.

After the dam we went back to Vegas. We went to REI so I could return my backpack. It just sucked. So I ended up finding an Osprey on clearance, Bonus! I also bought a backpacking tent, the Hubba Bubba. I can't wait to use it!

After REI we decided we'd get a hotel or the night on the strip. We chose the Mirage.

The system was down so they had to do everything manually which took forever. Here's the suite we got:

Myspace!

Fancy hotel with a tent.

After we got settled in we ate at Himalayan Cuisine. The food was really tasty. Nice people there.

We were so full so we headed back to the hotel and rested.

Then decided to walk down the strip at night. Here's what we saw.

Walking lit up billboards. It's hard to tell but there is a group of 4 hanging out texting and stuff. weird.

crazy money

This guy was a typical vegas jerk.

After that fun, Sean and I decided to do some Gambling. Sarah was tired and slept. We started in the Mirage but their systems were down so they had to do manual pay out and that was a pain so we left. We went to Harrah's. We got some cash money and started playing the nickel machines. That was fun! I think we broke even or just about that. It was a lot of fun. I meant to try craps or blackjack but just never got around to it.

Next morning we decided to hit up the pool. The Mirage has a huge pool and this was going to be cool.

Since I was leaving the group and I took my camera with so sean decided to buy a camera. He bought one that is waterproof. We had some fun at the pool. We were total creepers though having the camera in the water.

myspace, well sean is doing myspace pic.

This is creepy. Looks like a zombie eye or something. Doesn't seem to bother me in the pic though.

After the pool. We headed out. Grabbed some food from Chipotle and I headed to the airport to fly to Phoenix. The group split :( Sean and Sarah were going to Zion national park, Arches, Denver, then finally home. I hope they have a good rest of the trip. I know I had a blast and I hope everyone has loved looking at all the pictures.

I'll post Phoenix pictures even though it's not part of the road trip.
